Jacklin reached 9 under with five birdies on his front nine in the afternoon to build a cushion and needed it as he made four bogeys on the way to the house. Now he’ll make his first start in a major at The Country Club next week in Brookline, Massachusetts. Jacklin has made exactly one career PGA Tour start, five starts on the Korn Ferry Tour and a few tries on PGA Tour LatinoAmerica. “I expected to be leaving here after the last tee time,” he said. Jacklin was the last man in the field as an alternate, and was notified he got a spot just 20 minutes before his tee time. “It’s something I aspired to my whole life,” he said.
